Re: Notice of Incoming revised Clean Car Rebate/Feebate
As you may know, Govt is bringing in a number of initiatives to influence the importation of “Cleaner Cars” – those that emit lower, or less CO2 than currently.
Last year, you will have seen a part of this latest initiative introduced, with any vehicle “with a plug” being able to qualify for a rebate at registration time.
April 1st 2022 will see the rest of this initiative come into play with “penalty fees” payable at time of registration for vehicles that the Govt considers are emitting more CO2 than acceptable.
Any penalty fees payable are a “one off” fee at time of 1st registration.

Also – please note that if you have any cars on your yard that will attract a penalty if registered on or after April 1st, we recommend you register these to your business prior to avoid penalties. Please do not leave this until the last moment, if NZTA runs out of Licence Plates, you will not be able to register your vehicle/s.
