We are writing to inform you of an important update regarding the shipping of electric vehicles (EVs).
Due to an increase in the number of EVs being imported, our shipping providers have reviewed their safety policies and implemented amendments to their EV acceptance criteria.
Effective 1st February 2025, Autohub will only accept the Nissan Leaf EV for shipping from Japan to NZ. No other EV models will be accepted.
Additionally, the following conditions must be met:
- The vehicle must have no damage to the main lithium battery or underbody
- The vehicle must have a state of charge of 20% or more
- An OBD inspection must be conducted before loading to confirm:
1.)Â The difference between the minimum and maximum voltage of each cell is less than 100mV2.)Â The voltage of each cell is between 3.0V and 4.2V

A “Letter of Guarantee” must be submitted via email at least 2 working days before loading

A battery condition report must be submitted via email at least 3 working days before loading
- The vehicle must have a designated label affixed to the inside of the front windshield (passenger seat side, upper area)
- Undrivable vehicles must be towed or canceled. Lifting is not permitted
Please ensure you understand and consider these requirements when making future purchases to avoid complications with shipping. We also encourage you to liaise with your supplying agent to ensure they fully understand these changes and coordinate with our Japan office for shipment bookings.
