Greetings,
RE: Impending changes to the Clean Car Standard (CCS) Targets for 2025
As you will likely be aware, there are changes to the CCS effective from the 1st of January 2025. As with the previous changes which took effect from the start of this year, these updates are determined on the date of acceptance onto your CCS account, and NOT the date when the vehicle was border inspected, or first presented for compliance.
Details of the upcoming changes can be found on the NZTA website, including updated targets and rates for 2025: https://www.nzta.govt.nz/vehicles/clean-car-programme/clean-car-standard/information-for-importers-how-the-ccs-works/data-values-and-formulas/
Key Changes from 1st January, 2025:
- Reduced Annual Targets for passenger vehicles from 133.9 CO2g/km to 112.6 CO2g/km
- Easing Annual Targets for commercial vehicles from 201.9 CO2g/km to 223 CO2g/km
- The rate of credits/penalties will also increase from $18.00 per gram to $27.00 per gram for Pay As You Go (PAYG) accounts
Given the timing with the holiday season approaching, we would strongly recommend accepting all vehicles onto your account before the year’s end.
