We have now been informed by all our major RORO shipping providers that they will be charging a BAF surcharge per vehicle from Japan.
The vast bulk of used vehicles being imported from Japan are under 20 cubic meters in size and will therefore attract an additional BAF surcharge of $55 NZD per vehicle.
This will take effect for all vehicles loaded in Japan from December 1st 2018 onwards.
Large Vehicles (over 20 cubic meters):
Any vehicles exceeding 20 cubic meters in size will attract the same, if not higher BAF surcharge cost and this can be confirmed to you at time of booking (and before shipping). It is especially important that should you have any large vehicles that have had bodies/equipment removed before being presented for shipping that your agent notifies Autohub Japan that a ‘re-measure’ is required so that the accurate CBM figure is used as you may be charged a higher BAF surcharge than is applicable.

Other cost increases
Due to increase in NZ fuel prices and RUC (Road User Charges), our NZ transporter companies have increased their delivery charges to Autohub. We are monitoring these effects on our business for now and should these costs remain at present levels or increase over the next few months, we may be forced to pass these increases onto you.
We will advise well in advance if this happens.
